“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”—Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice) (via tjonie) (via aquieterstorm) (via booklover)
sitting outside by the pool staring at the stars… i don’t know how long i’ve been out here… it’s a strange feeling to completely lose track of the time and not even care. to be honest i can’t remember the last time i spent this much time alone, it’s just so still and quiet out here. i often joke…
Don’t worry. I will be there on Tuesday and then we can lay outside and stargaze together just like we do in SEattle :)
“This song is a response to the questions that are brought up in ‘Life and Love and Why.’ Stating my limitations as a human, ‘You’ discusses the hope and security that I can find, ‘not in me’, but in Christ. ‘Whoever wants to save his life will lose it’. Jesus says in Matthew 16:25, ‘but whoever loses his life for me will find it’. We must recognize that life and freedom and meaning cannot be found within ourselves (our finite experiences here on earth can have no metaphysical foundation in the moment or in our lives). But in Christ, our infinite, personal creator, we have meaning and truth. C.S. Lewis asks, ‘To whom will you look for help if you will not look to He who is stronger than yourself?’ As Christians we are called to look exclusively to Christ and live for Him with all that we are. He must increase and I must decrease.”—
So tonight my brother gets home from his tennis match and we decided to go to Blockbuster to get a movie. In our typical fashion we skim the entire new release section and decide on Harry Potter for tonight. As we are headed back across the store I start walking faster and cutting through the aisle, in an attempt to beat him to the movie. He looks over at me and goes “Oh I see what you’re doing” and proceeds to turn the corner in a brisk fashion only to get his sweatshirt caught on one of their wire racks, he stops and tries to catch some of the movies that fell but to no avail and then the entire display proceeds to fall over on him! I seriously burst into laughter, the entire building fell silent and started at my brother as we were kneeling on the floor trying to pick videos up and laughing histerically. I’m seriously still laughing, and I wish I had video of the entire process. We go to check out our movie and my brother apologizes to the lady who proceeds to say “oh its okay it’s wire there isn’t much you can do to hurt it” my little brother turns to me and whispers “obviously she doesn’t know me” hahah! Its been a good day at home.
“You can never really know someone completely. That’s why it’s the most terrifying thing in the world, really — taking someone on faith, hoping they’ll take you on faith too. It’s such a precarious balance, It’s a wonder we do it at all. And yet….”—Libba Bray (via iamblessed) (via quote-book) (via azureawakening) (via wekissedthestars)
Don't you know I don't wanna go down in flames with anyone other than you...
Finally finally finished and I am oh so happy about it, I just finally finished by final paper for the dreaded winter quarter and may I never have another one like it!
now i get to go home tomorrow night, and see my puppy and my little brother, and my mom and go volunteer in her preschool class with my favorite kids, and hang out with my dad. i will read, and go for wonderful long walks, and drink coffee with my best friend, and play games…. it will be a glorious time of relaxing.
then off to california to lay by the pool in the sunshine with kayla, and go see Copeland and experience her life :) I am literally unsure of how to feel right now, because the fact that I survived this quarter is miraculous. God is truly good because I don’t think I could have done it without him :)
